Rape is a form of violence and is defined as a forced sexual act between two people, without the other person’s consent. Criminal sexual assault is a charged as a form of sexual activity involving force or threats. Aggravated assault and battery is when a person attempts to cause serious bodily harm to another person with a weapon or dangerous object. Lastly, robbery is a form of violence that involves taking property or money by the use of force or threats. Violent crimes are serious offenses and are punishable by law. If a person is found guilty of any of these offenses, they may face a prison sentence, fines, or both.
