What is a schedule award?
A schedule award is a type of benefit available to individuals in the state of Florida who are covered under the Workers’ Compensation Law. It is a predetermined benefit that is paid out to an employee for an injury or illness they have sustained in the workplace. A schedule award is based upon the type and severity of the injury or illness sustained by the employee, and the amount of time they are expected to require medical care for the injury or illness. The amount of the award varies depending on the type and severity of the injury or illness, as well as the type of medical care that is required. For example, if an employee has suffered a broken arm, they might be eligible to receive a certain amount of compensation based on the length of their injury, the number of medical appointments they are likely to require, and the type of medical care they will need. The compensation may also vary if the employee needs physical therapy or any specialized treatment to help them heal quickly. In addition to a schedule award, an employee may also be eligible for a lump-sum payment or a permanent disability award if their injury is severe enough to cause them to be unable to return to work. These types of awards may be higher than a schedule award and are often used to help an employee with medical costs or to compensate them for lost wages.
