What is a schedule award?
A schedule award is a type of compensation given to Illinois workers who have suffered a permanent injury during the course of their employment or because of a work-related event. This type of award is determined by the type of injury and its severity. Each body part that has been injured has an associated compensation amount set by the law. For example, if an employee suffered a loss of the entire arm, the schedule award would be 660 weeks of compensation. The compensation amount is the same regardless of how the injury occurred. This award compensates the employee for the physical and mental pain suffered, as well as the loss of use of the injured body part. In cases where the injury is not severe enough to qualify for a schedule award, the employee may still be eligible to receive other types of compensation. For example, if the injury is minor, the employee may still be eligible for reimbursement for medical bills and lost wages. Schedule awards can be a great help for employees who have suffered a permanent injury, allowing them to receive fair compensation for the injury. The amount of the award can make a huge difference in their life, helping them to pay their medical bills, replace lost wages, and get back to their life as usual.
