What if I am unable to find a job due to my injury?
If you are unable to find a job due to your injury in Tennessee, you may be eligible for workers’ compensation benefits. The Tennessee Workers’ Compensation Law requires employers to provide benefits to employees who have been injured on the job, or who suffer from an occupational disease. These benefits can include medical expenses, disability payments, and/or death benefits for surviving family members. If you are unable to find a job due to your injury, you should contact the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development. They will be able to provide you with information about how to file a workers’ compensation claim in your state. In order to qualify for benefits, you must provide evidence that your injury or illness was caused by an event or condition related to your work. If your claim is approved, you may be eligible for weekly payments while you are unable to work. These payments may be up to two-thirds of your wages before you were injured, depending on the circumstances. You may also qualify for medical treatment, including physical therapy, medication, and surgeries. If you were denied workers’ compensation benefits, you have the right to appeal the ruling. You can ask for a hearing before an administrative law judge, in which you can explain your situation and provide supporting evidence to prove your case. The judge will then make a decision based on the evidence presented.
