What is the process of aircraft certification?
In Delaware, aircraft certification is the process of ensuring an aircraft meets all safety and operational requirements established by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The process begins with the Aircraft Owner or Operator obtaining a type certificate from the FAA. This certificate will indicate which aircraft model and serial number are approved. After that, an aircraft certification program is developed to ensure any modifications or repairs that are made to the aircraft meet or exceed FAA requirements. The next step is to have the aircraft inspected by an FAA-approved inspector. During this inspection, the aircraft is tested to make sure it meets the FAA’s standards for performance, safety, and reliability. Any modifications will need to be approved and documentation must be submitted to the FAA showing that these modifications are in compliance with their requirements. After the inspection, the aircraft must receive an airworthiness certificate from the FAA. This certificate is usually valid for one year and must be renewed annually to remain valid. The aircraft must also be registered with the FAA and its registration number must be written on its fuselage. In addition, aircraft operating in Delaware must comply with the Delaware Department of Transportation’s (DDOT) regulations. All aircraft operators must adhere to DDOT’s Airworthiness Directives to ensure safe operation in the state’s airspace. Aircraft certification is a necessary process to ensure that all aircraft operating in the U.S. meet the safety and operational requirements of the federal government. This process ensures that aircraft in Delaware are operating safely in the state’s airspace.
