Can a court award alimony to both spouses in a divorce?

In Oklahoma, the court can award alimony to both spouses in a divorce, but it is not common. The court will consider a variety of factors when deciding whether or not to award alimony to both spouses. These include the length of marriage, the incomes of both spouses, the financial needs of both spouses, and the ability of both spouses to earn a living. In Oklahoma, the court may also consider the fact that the marriage was entered into with the assumption of financial responsibility on the part of both parties. They may also look at how any income was accumulated during the marriage and whether or not both spouses were contributing to its growth. In most cases, the court will only award alimony to one spouse if the other spouse has sufficient income to meet their needs or if there are other factors that the court deems appropriate. The court may also award alimony to both spouses if it is determined that the goal of alimony is to help maintain the parties’ standard of living before the divorce. In general, the court will not award alimony to both spouses if it is believed that it will lead to an unfair situation, such as one spouse paying a disproportionately large amount while the other is only receiving a small portion. With that being said, the court may award alimony to both spouses if the court deems it to be in the best interests of both parties.
