What is the difference between animal rights law and animal welfare law?

Animal Rights Law and Animal Welfare Law are both related to the legal protection of animals, but there are important differences between the two. Animal Rights Law seeks to protect animals from any form of exploitation or harm and grants animals the same basic rights as humans. It focuses on the interests of animals without considering the interests of society, shape of the economy or much else. Animal Welfare Law focuses more on the humane treatment of animals, as defined by the law, and regulates how animals are handled in certain situations. It generally allows for the use of animals for food, entertainment, or other purposes, provided that the animal is treated humanely in the process. The goal of Animal Rights Law is to protect the fundamental rights of animals without considering societal needs or interests. It seeks to prevent animals from being treated as property and to end animal testing, factory farming, and abusive treatment of animals for entertainment, fashion, or any other purpose. On the other hand, the goal of Animal Welfare Law is more focused on humane treatment of animals within the limits of human use of animals. This means that it permits certain activities, such as farming and animal testing, but also regulates how these activities should be conducted to ensure that animals are protected from unnecessary suffering. Ultimately, both Animal Rights Law and Animal Welfare Law seek to protect animals from mistreatment and exploitation, but they take different approaches to achieving this goal.
