What is arbitration law?
Arbitration law is a set of rules and regulations that govern the arbitration process in the state of Virginia. This process is an alternative form of dispute resolution that resolves conflicts without having to go to court. It is usually a voluntary process, in which two or more parties agree to have a neutral third-party arbitrator hear the case, in order to settle the issue or issue a binding decision. In the state of Virginia, arbitration can be initiated for many types of disputes, including family law issues, commercial disputes, and civil disputes. Once arbitration is agreed upon, the parties will contact a neutral third-party arbitrator who will create an arbitration agreement. This agreement will outline the process, as well as any rules or requirements for the parties. This includes the payment of an enrollment fee to the arbitrator. The arbitration process typically includes the exchange of some type of document or information between the parties regarding the dispute at hand. This information will then be reviewed by the arbitrator, who will make an impartial decision on the matter. This decision can be either binding or non-binding, depending on the type of dispute being considered. Once the arbitration is complete, the process is considered to be final, and the parties must accept the decision that was reached. If a party refuses to accept the decision, they may have the option of taking the case to court, but they will usually have to pay an additional fee or costs to do so.
