What is an interlocutory appeal?

An interlocutory appeal is a legal process used in Florida that allows parties in an arbitration dispute to challenge an order or decision that is made by a court or administrative tribunal before the case has been completed. This type of appeal can be used to challenge any decision that affects the outcome of the case, such as a decision regarding the discovery process, a motion to dismiss a claim, or an order granting a preliminary injunction. In other words, interlocutory appeals can be used to challenge rulings that could ultimately affect the outcome of the case, even if those rulings are made before the case is finished. In Florida, an interlocutory appeal must first be heard by the court or tribunal that made the original decision. If the court or tribunal rules against one of the parties and they wish to challenge this, they can then make a formal appeal to either the district court of appeals or the Florida Supreme Court. This type of appeal is important because, in some cases, a decision made prior to the end of the case could have a huge impact on the outcome and the parties involved will need to have the opportunity to challenge it.
