What are the laws about tinting the windshield?

In Texas, windshield tinting is regulated by law. According to the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV), it is illegal to tint any part of the windshield with any material other than a certified sun-control product. The front side windows may not have any tint other than a sun-control product either, and the rear side windows may have a tint no darker than a 25 percent VLT (Visible Light Transmission) rating.
