What are the laws about horns and sirens?
In Washington State, the laws about horns and sirens vary depending on the type of vehicle. For cars and other private vehicles, the law states that vehicle operators are not allowed to use their horn unless it is necessary to alert other drivers in cases of emergency. It also states that car horns should not be used to signal arrivals, departures, or any other non-emergency related circumstance. As far as sirens are concerned, vehicle operators are only allowed to use sirens if they are law enforcement or emergency responders. The law states that any other type of vehicle, such as commercial vehicles, is not allowed to use a siren. When sirens are used, they must be used according to the law. This means that sirens should only be used when responding to an emergency, or when involved in an emergency situation. As with horns, sirens should be used in cases of emergency only and not for any type of non-emergency use. In addition to the abovementioned laws, drivers should also be aware of other drivers on the road when using horns and sirens. The law states that excessive or unnecessary use of a horn or siren is prohibited. This puts other drivers at risk of being startled or distracted, which can lead to dangerous situations on the road.
