What are the requirements for aircraft pilots?
In the state of Minnesota, aircraft pilots must meet certain requirements in order to legally fly an aircraft. First, all licensed pilots must pass a physical exam, administered by a federal aviation medical examiner, to ensure they are able to safely operate an aircraft. According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), this exam must be conducted every two years for pilots under the age of 40 and every year after that. Second, aircraft pilots must complete a minimum of 40 hours of flight training, including at least 20 hours of instruction from an FAA-certificated flight instructor. The pilot must also successfully complete a solo flight and demonstrate airmanship skills by performing specific maneuvers. Third, aircraft pilots must obtain an FAA Airman Certificate. To do so, they must pass a written exam that tests their knowledge of aircraft operations, maintenance, navigation, and regulations. Finally, all aircraft pilots must renew their licenses with the FAA every two years. During this process, pilots may be required to take additional training courses in order to keep their license up-to-date. By fulfilling these requirements, pilots are able to operate an aircraft safely and legally in the state of Minnesota.
