What is an income tax form?

An income tax form is a document used by individuals or businesses to report their income from various sources, such as wages or investments, to the Colorado Department of Revenue. The information provided on the form is then used to calculate the amount of taxes owed. Depending on the income type, different forms may be used. For individuals, one of the most commonly used forms is the Colorado Income Tax Form 104. This form is used by individuals who make income from wages, salaries, self-employment, dividends, pensions, taxable Social Security benefits, and other sources. The Form 104 includes a number of other forms that may need to be completed depending on the source of income. Additionally, individuals may need to complete a state withholding form if they anticipate owing taxes when filing their tax return. Businesses may use different forms, such as the Colorado Business/Rental/Royalty Income Tax Form 112. This form is used to report income from businesses, rental properties, and royalties. Different forms are available for various types of businesses, such as corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies, and more. Each of these forms require different levels of detail for the income source being reported. Depending on the type of income and the business type, other forms may need to be completed in addition to the primary income tax form.
