What are the rights of shareholders?

Shareholders are individuals or entities that own shares of a company, and they are the stakeholders of a company that have certain rights. In Hawaii, shareholders have the right to vote on matters that affect the company. This includes voting on directors and the board of directors, officers, and the company’s major decisions. For example, in shareholder meetings, the shareholders will vote on whether or not to approve major decisions, such as a change in corporate structure, or the buying or selling of assets that may affect the company’s future. Shareholders also have the right to view the company’s financial documents and records, such as the balance sheet, the income statement, and the statement of cash flow. Shareholders also have the right to receive a dividend payment from the company if the board of directors approves it. Lastly, in most cases, shareholders are the last ones to get paid in the event of the company’s dissolution. This means if a company is liquidated and all creditors and employees are paid, the remaining amount will be given to the shareholders. Shareholders are important stakeholders of a business in Hawaii, and they possess certain rights that are protected by business law. It is important for shareholders to familiarize themselves with the different rights they possess, so that they can take action if their rights are violated.
