How can I obtain a medical cannabis card?
To obtain a medical cannabis card in Texas, you must first have a qualifying condition or symptom approved by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). Eligible conditions include seizure disorders, cancer, autism, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). You will also need to have a physician who is registered with the DPS and sign a statement that certifies you have one of the qualifying conditions. Additionally, you must submit an application to the DPS and pay an associated fee. Once your application is approved, you can receive a medical cannabis card that will allow you to purchase medical cannabis from a dispensary. Since medical cannabis is not legal in Texas, you must purchase it from an out-of-state dispensary with a valid medical cannabis card. You must keep your medical cannabis card on you at all times in order to legally purchase and possess the product. Lastly, you must be 18 years of age or older in order to apply for a medical cannabis card.
