What restrictions are there on advertising for cannabis products?

In Kansas, advertising for cannabis products is restricted in accordance with state law. It is illegal to advertise cannabis products in any public space, including newspapers, billboards, websites, television, radio or any other form of public communication. Additionally, it is also illegal to advertise cannabis products in private spaces, including residences, businesses, or anywhere else the public can view the advertisement. It is also illegal to advertise cannabis products in any way that uses images or language that appeals to minors, as determined by the Kansas Board of Pharmacy. This includes any images of cartoons or other images that appear to be child-oriented, as well as any language that is deemed to be inappropriate for children. No professional or employees associated with cannabis advertising may use images or language that could be considered offensive or inappropriate. Finally, in Kansas, no cannabis-related business may solicit customers outside of their place of business. This includes all forms of telephone calls, emails, text messages, or any other form of communication that attempts to attract customers to the cannabis business. Any violation of these advertising regulations is a Class B misdemeanor in Kansas, and can result in up to a $2,500 fine and/or up to six months in prison.
