Yes, there are age restrictions for medical cannabis patients in Mississippi. According to Mississippi’s medical cannabis law, a patient must be at least 21 years old in order to qualify for medical cannabis. The law also allows for minors age 13 and up to use medical cannabis, provided that they have a caregiver at least 21 years old or legally authorized to provide care. In order to be authorized as a caregiver and purchase medical cannabis for a minor in Mississippi, an individual must be approved by the Mississippi Department of Health and must also provide the Department with a signed parental/guardian consent form. In addition to the age restrictions, the Mississippi medical cannabis law also requires that patients and caregivers be registered with the Universal Patient registry and possess a valid medical cannabis certification. Certified patients must renew their medical cannabis certification every 90 days in order to maintain their eligibility for medical cannabis.
