Is it legal to grow cannabis plants outdoors?

In the state of Wisconsin, it is illegal to grow cannabis plants outdoors. This includes any hemp plants, as well as any plants that have any of the psychoactive compounds of marijuana. Growing cannabis outdoors is prohibited by both state and federal laws. The production, possession, delivery, sale, and/or use of cannabis are considered crimes in Wisconsin. The only exception to this rule is with the exception of a licensed medical marijuana cultivation facility. The penalties for growing cannabis outdoors in Wisconsin can vary depending on the amount that was being grown. If the amount is deemed to be for personal use, then it is considered a misdemeanor and is punishable by a fine of up to $1,000 and/or up to nine months in prison. If the amount is deemed to be for sale or distribution, then it is considered a Class I felony and is punishable by a fine of up to $10,000 and/or up to three and a half years in prison. Therefore, it is not legal to grow cannabis plants outdoors in the state of Wisconsin.
