Are there any restrictions on the sale of cannabis to minors?
In Texas, cannabis is still illegal for recreational use. As such, there are strict restrictions on the sale of cannabis to minors. Under Texas law, it is illegal for any person or business to sell, furnish, give or deliver cannabis to any person under the age of 21. A person found in violation of this law may be charged with a Class A misdemeanor, punishable by a maximum jail sentence of up to one year and/or a fine of up to $4,000. Additionally, minors are prohibited from entering and remaining in any establishment that markets cannabis or marijuana for consumption or use on the premises. This includes dispensaries, smoke shops, and other retail stores. Any person, including minors, found in violation of this law may be charged with a Class B misdemeanor, punishable by a maximum jail sentence of up to 180 days and/or a fine of up to $2,000. It is important to remember that it is still illegal for minors to possess, use, or possess with intent to sell cannabis in Texas. Minors in possession of cannabis may be charged with a Class B misdemeanor and fined up to $2,000. Furthermore, a minor in possession of cannabis may be required to complete a drug education program or community service.
