Are there any restrictions on the use of cannabis at work?

In Nebraska, cannabis laws are still quite strict, and the use of cannabis is strictly prohibited in the workplace. Employers are not allowed to permit their employees to use, possess, or be under the influence of marijuana while on the job or while on their employer’s premises. Employers are also forbidden from requiring, encouraging, or permitting employees to work under the influence of marijuana. Furthermore, employers are not allowed to tolerate employees that return to work while impaired from the effects of marijuana. Any employee suspected of being impaired by marijuana while on the job may be subject to appropriate disciplinary action. Employers may also require drug testing of any employee before they are hired, and may also decide to conduct regular drug tests for current employees. Employees may be tested for marijuana if there is suspicion that they are using it while on the job. Ultimately, the use of cannabis in the workplace is still highly restricted in Nebraska. Employers have the right to enforce their drug policies for the safety of their employees. Employees must be aware of their employer’s policy and know that marijuana use is still prohibited at work.
