What are the late payment fees for credit cards?

In Oregon, credit card late payment fees are outlined by the Credit Card Law. The first late fee can be up to $25 dollars if your payment is more than 10 days late. If you make a late payment more than once in the same 6-month period, the late fee can be up to $35 dollars. Additionally, any returned payment will result in a fee of up to $25. Fees for late or returned payments may increase if you fail to make payments for more than 6 consecutive billing cycle periods. The fees may also be increased if the credit card issuer determines that you have acted in an irresponsible manner regarding payments and credit card usage. Fees can be as high as $39 dollars for late payments and $35 for returned payments. If you have any questions regarding the late payment fees, you can contact the Oregon Division of Financial Regulation. They can provide more information about the Credit Card Law of Oregon, as well as any additional penalties for late or returned payments.
