What if I receive a collection notice in a language other than English?

If you receive a collection notice in a language other than English, you should immediately contact an attorney who is familiar with the Collection Defense Law in Washington. Under the law, you have a right to receive any communication related to a debt in the language that you communicate in. The Collection Defense Law in Washington also requires debt collectors to provide you with a written translation of any collection notice in a language other than English before taking any action against you.
