In a class action lawsuit, the class strength is the total number of people covered by the case. It is the collective group of people, known as the “class”, who have been harmed in the same way by a company and seek legal action. In California, a class action lawsuit must meet certain criteria in order to be considered valid. The class must have a certain number of individuals involved, must have enough members to make managing and litigating a class action cost-effective, and must have common legal or factual issues among the members. If the court does not certify the case, the lawsuit cannot go forward.
