In order to maintain their rights, the creator must also renew their copyright every five years. Copyright law also provides protection against copyright infringement, which is the unauthorized use of copyright-protected work. In Delaware, copyright infringement can lead to civil and criminal penalties. Civil penalties include monetary damages and/or an injunction prohibiting the infringer from using the work.
