What are the grounds for a restraining order?
A restraining order is a court order issued in California to protect a person from harm caused by someone else. In civil court, a restraining order is called an Order of Protection, and it applies to all people, not just those in a romantic relationship. A restraining order can be issued if there is reasonable evidence that someone is in danger of physical or emotional harm or if there is a pattern of abuse or harassment. The abuser must also be notified to come to court and respect the court’s decision.
