What is the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)?
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a comprehensive civil rights law passed in 1990 that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities. It grants the same rights to people with disabilities as those afforded to other citizens. The ADA affects individuals in Delaware in many ways. In Delaware, the Division of the Public Advocate for Persons with Disabilities is responsible for protecting the rights of individuals with disabilities under the ADA. The division provides information, education, and legal advice for people with disabilities and their families. It also enforces the ADA and helps people with disabilities exercise their rights.
