What is the job accommodation network and how can it help me?
The Job Accommodation Network (JAN) is a free consulting service provided by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP). JAN works to assist employers in understanding how to best accommodate employees with disabilities. This includes analyzing job duties, researching accommodation options, and providing guidance on implementing accommodations. In Idaho, JAN can help employers and employees in understanding their rights and responsibilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). It can provide resources about accommodation options for employers to consider, as well as technical assistance in the areas of accommodation cost analysis, job restructuring, and providing reasonable workplace modifications. JAN can also assist individuals with disabilities in understanding their rights under the ADA. This includes providing information on job accommodations tailored to an individual’s disability, as well as referrals to other disability resources. For people in Idaho, the JAN can serve as a valuable resource in understanding disability law and their rights as an employee with a disability. Through the JAN, individuals with disabilities can gain more knowledge about their rights, as well as find resources to help them successfully apply for and maintain employment. Additionally, JAN can provide employers with guidance on how to best accommodate employees with disabilities.
