What is domestic abuse?

Intimidation is when one person uses fear, threats, or other tactics to make another person feel afraid. This includes things like verbal threats, stalking, or making the other person feel intimidated or scared for their safety. In California, domestic abuse laws are in place to protect victims of domestic abuse. If a perpetrator is found guilty of domestic abuse, they can face fines and/or jail time depending on the severity of the situation. In California, anyone who believes they are a victim of domestic abuse should contact the police or seek help from a shelter or domestic violence hotline.
