Yes, in New York, there are laws that protect victims of dating violence. The New York State Domestic Violence Law defines dating violence as a “particular type of domestic violence” that consists of inflicting physical harm or the threat of physical harm on someone with whom the abuser is in, or was previously in, a dating relationship.
