How do I know if I’m legally intoxicated?

In Arkansas, it is illegal to drive with a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) of .08 or above. You are legally considered intoxicated when your BAC reaches that amount. There are several factors that can affect your BAC, such as how many drinks you have had, how quickly you drank, your body weight, gender, and how recently you last ate. If you are pulled over by law enforcement and suspected of driving while intoxicated, you may be asked to provide a breath, blood, or urine sample. Based on the results of these tests, law enforcement can determine whether or not your BAC is above the legal limit. If it is, you will be arrested and charged with a DWI (Driving While Intoxicated). In addition, the law in Arkansas sets a lower limit for young drivers. If you are under 21 years of age, you will be considered legally intoxicated if your BAC is .02 or higher. To avoid being charged with a DWI, it is important to always remember that drinking and driving can have serious consequences. If you are going to be consuming any alcohol, it is important to have a designated driver or to call a taxi to get you home safely.
