Who enforces education law?

Education law is the body of laws that govern education in the state of Tennessee. Education laws are enforced by a variety of different actors, including federal and state government, local school districts, educational institutions, and private entities. At the federal level, the United States Department of Education enforces the laws and regulations governing education. These include the Individuals with Disabilities Act, which ensures that students receive a free and appropriate public education; the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, which protects the privacy of student records; Title IX, which prohibits gender discrimination in programs and activities that receive federal funding; and other federal laws that govern education. At the state level, Tennessee has its own set of education laws and regulations enforced by the State Department of Education. These include laws that govern student safety, public school accreditation, education standards, teacher evaluations, and school funding. The Tennessee General Assembly is responsible for passing all state education laws, while the State Commissioner of Education is responsible for enforcing them. On the local level, school districts are responsible for enforcing education laws within their boundaries. This includes policies related to student safety, discipline, curriculum standards, and other areas. Local school boards, administrators, and teachers all have a role in ensuring that education laws are followed in their district. Finally, private entities such as educational institutions, special education advocates, and community groups also have an important role in enforcing education laws. These entities often work together to ensure that students receive a quality education that meets all local, state, and federal requirements.
