How do you remove a guardian?

In Alaska, there are specific steps that must be taken to remove a guardian. The first step is to file a "Petition to Terminate Guardianship" with the court. This must include the name and address of the guardian, the court in which the guardianship was established, and a statement of reasons why the guardianship should be terminated. Once the petition is submitted, the court will then set a hearing date. At the hearing, the petitioner and guardian have the opportunity to present their arguments for and against terminating the guardianship. The court will then decide whether or not the guardianship should be terminated. If the court decides to terminate the guardianship, the guardian must turn over all of the guardianship assets and responsibilities. These assets include any money, property, or other items under the guardianship. The guardian must also provide the court with a list of all the responsibilities and duties they were responsible for taking care of. Finally, the court will issue an Order Terminating Guardianship. This order releases the guardian from their duties and responsibilities and serves as official notice that the guardianship has been terminated. In summary, in order to remove a guardian in Alaska, the petitioner must first file a Petition to Terminate Guardianship with the court. The court will then set a hearing date after which it will decide whether or not to terminate the guardianship. If the court decides to do so, the guardian must turn over all guardianship assets and responsibilities. Finally, the court will issue an Order Terminating Guardianship, officially ending the guardianship.
