What is the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination?
The International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD) is an international human rights treaty that was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1965. The purpose of the treaty is to ensure the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms for all individuals, regardless of their race or nationality. ICERD requires state signatories to condemn and end racial discrimination in all its forms, both public and private, and to eliminate racial segregation and prejudice.
