What is the International Court of Justice?

The International Court of Justice, or ICJ, is a branch of the United Nations (UN) responsible for resolving disputes between countries. It was established in 1945, when the UN was created, and is based in The Hague, Netherlands. The ICJ is the highest court in the world for international law, including issues related to human rights law. They work together to ensure that people’s rights are respected and that offenders are held accountable.
