What is a Final Order of Removal?

A Final Order of Removal (FOR) is a document issued by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) that orders the removal of a person from the United States. This document is issued only after all legal proceedings related to the person’s status as an undocumented immigrant have been completed. If a person is issued a Final Order of Removal, they have exhausted all of their appeals and are now subject to deportation. In Washington, if a person is issued a Final Order of Removal, they must leave the United States within a certain amount of time, usually 30 days. They may also be detained until they can be removed from the United States. ICE has the authority to issue a Final Order of Removal in cases where a person is found to be in the country illegally and has exhausted all legal proceedings related to their status in the United States. A Final Order of Removal is a serious document and means that the recipient will be permanently removed from the United States. It is important to note that a Final Order of Removal cannot be appealed, and the recipient cannot stay in the country any longer. If issued, one should contact a qualified immigration lawyer to learn more and to explore any legal options that may be available.
