What is “ re-entry after deportation”?
Re-entry after deportation is when someone who has been deported is able to legally re-enter the country from which they were deported. This usually requires someone to obtain a visa or special permission from the government. In the case of Texas, immigrants who are deported from the US for any reason, such as illegal entry, criminal activities, or immigration violations, must obtain a visa or other re-entry permission from the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) in order to enter the state again. In most cases, a person who has been deported from the US has to wait for at least 10 years before the USCIS will consider their re-entry application. However, there are some exceptions. For instance, if an immigrant can prove that his or her deportation was due to a mistake or other extenuating circumstances, they may be eligible for a re-entry waiver. This waiver allows them to apply for a visa or other re-entry authority even if they are within the 10-year waiting period. Re-entry of course cannot be guaranteed. It may require a person to complete specific requirements or go through interviews with immigration officials. However, if a person can obtain a visa or permission to re-enter the US, the process is usually not difficult or very long. Those who have been deported and are seeking to re-enter the US legally should always contact the USCIS for help and information.
