What is a Voluntary Return or Voluntary Departure Order?

A Voluntary Return or Voluntary Departure Order is a deportation order issued by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Washington that allows an immigrant to leave the United States on their own accord, instead of being forcibly removed. This type of order is often offered to immigrants who are not qualified for more permanent forms of relief from deportation, such as cancellation of removal or asylum.
