What are the eligibility requirements for an EAD?
EAD stands for Employment Authorization Document, which is a document issued by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) that authorizes certain individuals to work in the United States legally. In order to be eligible for an EAD in Texas, you must meet certain criteria. Firstly, you must be a foreign national in the U.S. and have a valid visa or permission to be in the U.S. This could include people with valid tourist visas, student visas, and other types of visas. You must have an eligible immigration status, such as having applied for an immigration benefit, or for asylum, or a family member who has filed an application for you. Furthermore, you must have a valid reason for needing an EAD, such as being an asylum seeker, a victim of domestic violence, or having applied for a family-based or job-based green card. Additionally, you must meet all other applicable requirements, such as having a Social Security Number, paying any applicable filing fees, and completing any other necessary forms. Once these requirements have been met, your application will be reviewed by USCIS. If everything is in order, you will be issued an EAD which will enable you to work legally in the United States. The EAD is valid for a specific period of time, after which you will need to apply for renewal if you wish to continue working in the U.S.
