What is the E-3 visa?

The E-3 visa is a non-immigrant visa available exclusively for Australian citizens who wish to work in the United States on a temporary basis. This visa allows Australian citizens to come to the United States and work in a specialty occupation for a period of up to two years, with the possibility of renewing the visa for additional periods of two years. The purpose of this visa is to facilitate the transfer of professional skills and knowledge from Australia to the United States. In order to be eligible for the E-3 visa, applicants must meet certain criteria. First, applicants must be an Australian citizen or have a valid passport from Australia. Second, applicants must have a job offer from a U.S. employer and that job must be in a specialty occupation. Specialty occupations are defined as those occupations that require specialized knowledge or skills of a professional nature not found in the general population. The E-3 visa also provides certain benefits to the visa holder. For instance, spouses of E-3 visa holders are eligible to apply for work authorization in the United States. Additionally, E-3 visa holders may bring certain family members to the United States under the visa holder’s visa status. Overall, the E-3 visa provides a great opportunity to Australian citizens who wish to come to the United States to work in a specialty occupation for a period of up to two years. This visa provides many of the same benefits as an H-1B visa, but with a few additional benefits that the H-1B visa does not offer. As such, the E-3 visa is a great option for Australian citizens looking to work in the United States temporarily.
