How do I remove the conditions on my permanent resident status?

In Massachusetts, if you are a permanent resident and you obtained it through family immigration law, there are certain conditions that must be removed in order to keep your permanent status. To remove the conditions on your permanent resident status, you must file a form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence. The form must be filed within 90 days before the expiration date of your conditional resident status. You must submit documents to prove the validity of your marriage, including evidence of cohabitation, any joint tax returns, and joint bank accounts. You need to submit the form along with a filing fee and copies of any documents that prove your current marital status. If the conditions are not removed, your permanent resident status will be terminated and you may be subject to removal from the United States. Once the form is filed, you must attend an interview at a United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) office. You should bring original documents to the interview to prove the validity of your relationship. If USCIS approves your petition, they will mail you a new Permanent Resident Card without conditions. If your petition is denied, you will receive a Notice of Intent to Deny and an opportunity to respond.
