What is the application process for DACA?

In Tennessee, the application process for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program is relatively straightforward. The first step is to obtain and complete the USCIS form I-821D, also known as the DACA Request Form. This form must be accompanied by a Form I-765, which is an application for an Employment Authorization, and a Form I-765WS Worksheet. After completing the forms, applicants must submit them to USCIS with the required supporting documentation and fee. The supporting documentation required for the DACA application includes proof of identity and evidence of the applicant’s presence in the United States before their 16th birthday. In addition, applicants must provide evidence that they continuously resided in the United States since their arrival and that they were physically present in the United States on June 15, 2012. Finally, applicants must provide evidence that they were enrolled in school, had earned a high school diploma, or had been honorably discharged from the United States Armed Forces or Coast Guard. Once the application is received by USCIS, they will review it to make sure that all required forms and documentation have been provided. Then, a request for evidence may be issued if more information is needed. After the application is approved, the applicant will receive a Employment Authorization Document (EAD) and may be eligible for a Social Security Number (SSN).
