What is the process for replacing a stolen green card?

In Massachusetts, the process for replacing a stolen green card is relatively straightforward. First, the applicant must file Form I-90, an application for a replacement green card, with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The form can be found on the USCIS website and can be submitted online or via mail. Along with the application, the applicant must provide two documents to prove their identity and a copy of the police report about the stolen green card. After filing the Form I-90 application, the applicant will be required to go to an interview with USCIS. At the interview, the applicant must present the documents they submitted with the application. The interviewer will review the information and ask questions to verify the application’s accuracy. If the information on the application and the documents are found to be accurate, the interviewer will approve the request for a replacement green card. Once the replacement green card has been approved, USCIS will mail it to the applicant’s address. It usually takes between 4 and 6 weeks to receive the new green card. In some cases, USCIS may require the applicant to have a biometrics appointment. This is usually scheduled after the application has been approved and requires the applicant to submit fingerprints and have their photo taken. After the biometrics appointment, USCIS will mail the applicant the new green card.
