In order to apply for citizenship through marriage in the state of Florida, the applicant must meet specific requirements. The applicant must have been married to a U.S. citizen for at least three years in order for the application to be considered. The applicant must also be a permanent resident of the United States for at least three years. The applicant must also have had a green card for at least three years prior to the filing of the application. The applicant must also pass a citizenship test to demonstrate a sufficient understanding of the English language and an understanding of U.S. history and government. Finally, a naturalization interview must be attended by both the applicant and their spouse. This interview will confirm all of the information given in the application.
