How can I apply for an Advance Parole?
Advance parole is a form of humanitarian parole used by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to allow foreign nationals to travel outside the United States without jeopardizing their immigration status. It can be used to re-enter the United States after a period of extended travel, or to enter the United States for humanitarian purposes such as tending to family matters or attending a special event. If you are a foreign national residing in South Dakota and you are in the process of obtaining a green card, you can apply for an Advance Parole through USCIS. The first step is to complete and submit Form I-131, which is the application for Advance Parole. You will need to include proof of your identity, your status as a foreign national, and a valid reason for the Advance Parole (e.g., family emergency, medical appointment, or business appointment). You will also need to pay the associated fees which currently stands at $575. Once the form and the supporting documents have been submitted, USCIS will review your application and decide whether to approve or deny your request. If approved, you will receive an approval notice along with your advance parole document, which will allow you to travel outside of the United States without losing your immigration status. You must present the documents to an immigration officer when you enter the United States to be admitted as a returning permanent resident. It is important to note that you are not guaranteed an Advance Parole; USCIS will review your application and make a decision based on the merits of your request. Additionally, any travel plans made prior to obtaining Advance Parole are done so at your own risk, as you may not be allowed to enter the United States.
