How can I apply for an Advance Parole?
In order to apply for Advance Parole in Washington, you must first determine your eligibility for residency. An individual must have a valid form of immigration status in the United States in order to qualify. This includes those who are lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees. Once your eligibility is established, you can apply for Advance Parole. The process begins with filling out Form I-131, which is the Application for Travel Document. This form should include a valid reason for your travel, such as reuniting with family or seeking medical treatment. After the form is completed, you must submit supporting documents such as proof of identity and travel itinerary. The application can be submitted either by mail or online through the USCIS website. You must also pay a filing fee, which can range from $360 to $575, depending upon your age and the type of application. Once the application is processed, USCIS will notify you with a decision. If approved, you will receive an Advance Parole Document, which is valid for one year. It will allow you to travel abroad and return to the U.S. for the duration it is valid. It is important to note that Advance Parole is not a guarantee of entry into the U.S. upon return. You may still be subject to inspection and admitted or denied entry at the border. Therefore, it is important to ensure that you meet all the criteria for entry before traveling.
