What is the F-1 student visa program?
The F-1 student visa program is an immigration program used in Kansas and throughout the United States to allow foreign students to study in the U.S. This type of visa is reserved specifically for students, and it allows those who are in possession of it to attend an academic program, English language program, or vocational program in the States. In order to be eligible for an F-1 visa, students must be accepted into a school that is certified by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. These institutions are usually colleges, universities, and sometimes even high schools, but they must maintain certain standards to be eligible. Additionally, those applying for an F-1 visa must prove they are able to pay for all their academic and living expenses while in the U.S. With an F-1 visa, a student is able to stay and attend school in the U.S. for the specified duration of their program. They are also able to work on-campus for up to 20 hours a week during the school year and 40 hours a week during summer vacations and school holidays. However, students must receive permission from their school and Department of Homeland Security in order to do this. Finally, the F-1 student visa allows students to stay and live in the U.S. for up to 60 days after their program has ended. During that time, they may travel around the country and look for work opportunities. However, if they decide to stay in the U.S. longer than the allotted time, they must apply for another type of visa.
