What is an F-2 visa?

An F-2 visa is a type of non-immigrant visa issued by the United States government. This type of visa is intended for individuals who are accompanying or following to join a F-1 visa holder (the F-1 visa holder is generally a student in an educational program in the U.S.). The visa holder of the F-2 visa can include the student’s spouse and children. The F-2 visa allows them to live in the United States and engage in activities such as attending school, recreational activities, and accompanying the F-1 visa holder on trips. However, the F-2 visa does not allow the visa holder to work or accept any form of employment. They are also not eligible for a social security number. F-2 visa holders are allowed to study in the United States as long as their courses do not count toward a degree program. They can also take part in non-degree activities such as language classes, cultural workshops, and recreational or educational programs without academic credit. In Washington, F-2 visa holders should make sure they are aware of the laws and regulations of the state they are living in. Different states have different laws, so it’s important to find out what activities are allowed and what activities are not allowed. It’s also a good idea to keep documentation of all activities and contact information of your lawyer in case of any difficulties.
