What is the difference between an immigrant and a non-immigrant visa?
Immigrant and non-immigrant visas are two different types of visas that exist in the United States. An immigrant visa is for people who plan to permanently reside in the United States, while a non-immigrant visa is for those coming to the United States temporarily. Immigrant visas are available for immediate family members of U.S. citizens, and those who wish to move to the United States to work or study. The most common type of immigrant visa is the green card, which grants the holder permanent residency in the U.S. Immigrants are allowed to stay in the United States indefinitely and take advantage of the many benefits that come with being a permanent resident. On the other hand, a non-immigrant visa is for those coming to the U.S. temporarily for a specific purpose, such as for business or pleasure. This type of visa is usually only valid for a few months and requires the holder to leave the U.S. after their period of stay is over. Students who wish to study in Washington may be able to obtain a student visa, which grants them permission to stay in the U.S. for the duration of their studies. Overall, the main difference between an immigrant and a non-immigrant visa is that an immigrant visa is for those coming to permanently live in the U.S., while a non-immigrant visa is for those coming temporarily.
