What is an H-3 visa?
An H-3 visa is a visa that allows individuals to enter the United States temporarily to participate in a training program. This visa is mainly used by foreign nationals who wish to receive training that is not available in their home country. The program must be approved by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and it must be related to commerce, communications, finance, government, transportation, or other professional fields. In California, the H-3 visa may be used by students who have already graduated from a high school in the United States and are seeking additional training or education. This type of visa can also be used by students who are studying a field at a specific college or university that is not offered in their home country. The H-3 visa is granted for a maximum period of two years and cannot be extended. In some cases, an H-3 visa holder may be eligible for a change of status to an F-1 visa (for academic education) or to an H-1B visa (for professional training). It is important to note that the H-3 visa does not allow the visa holder to work or perform any sort of employment in the U.S. The visa holder is expected to return to their home country after the training is completed.
