What is the F-1 CPT program?
The F-1 CPT program, also known as Curricular Practical Training, is a program offered to foreign students in Washington state who are in the US on an F-1 visa. This program allows them to gain experience in a job related to their field of study while still studying. To be eligible for the F-1 CPT program, the student must be enrolled full-time at an educational institution and have been in the US on an F-1 visa for at least one academic year. Once approved, the student may work up to 20 hours per week while school is in session and full-time when school is out of session. The employer will provide a job description that outlines the student’s duties and responsibilities. It is important to note that students may not work more than a total of 12 months on the F-1 CPT program. The F-1 CPT program is a great way for foreign students to gain experience in their field of study which can help them obtain employment after graduation.
